Jože Plečnik, an innovative Slovene architect, envisioned the city of Ljubljana, Slovenia as a great example of human-centric design. Decades before other European cities, Plečnik banned motorised traffic from the centre, which allowed pedestrians to better experience the world around them.
Plečnik called the project The Slovenian Acropolis, inspired by the architectural impact of classic Athens in Greece, and played a crucial role in reimagining the Central European city.
