Few theories in science are as influential as Charles Darwin’s ‘survival of the fittest’. The idea is commonly understood to mean that those who are physically dominant have a higher chance of survival. But the evolutionary success of Homo sapiens suggests that we might have completely misunderstood Darwin’s idea.
