The business secretary said a second lockdown in England was “regrettable” but was needed to safeguard the NHS and to “come out of this on the other side”.
Alok Sharma was speaking at the CBI annual conference. The prime minister will update MPs later on England’s four-week lockdown which is due to start on Thursday.
