James Cleverly defends appointment of BBC chairman Richard Sharp

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has defended Richard Sharp’s appointment as chairman of the BBC.,

There are claims that Mr Sharp helped then prime minister Boris Johnson secure a loan, weeks before he was appointed as chairman.

Mr Cleverly said he had “absolutely no doubt” that Mr Sharp was appointed on merit.
