Marc Marquez claimed a seventh successive MotoGP victory as he won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Spanish rider started from pole position on his Ducati and slipped to third on the opening lap, but he recovered to claim a confident win at the Balaton Park circuit in Balatonfokajar.
The six-time MotoGP champion comfortably outpaced 21-year-old compatriot Pedro Acosta, who finished second on his KTM, while Italian Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi was third.
Marquez gained another 23 points on his brother Alex Marquez to extend his championship lead to 175 points, with eight races remaining.
It was also the 32-year-old’s seventh straight sprint-GP double – and his 10th of the 2025 season.
After starting from pole, Marquez dropped back after making contact with Bezzecchi on turn two.
“When I saw that Marco was inside, I had to touch the brakes and go wide,” he said.
“Then I started to attack and I had a super nice rhythm. I was rolling round the track so I’m super happy.”
Alex Marquez had a crash at the start of lap two and the Ducati-Gresini rider ultimately finished 14th.
Reigning world champion Jorge Martin started in 16th place and fought back to finish in fourth, just behind team-mate Bezzecchi, who has had three straight podium finishes for the first time in his career.
The race result also marks the first time Marc Marquez has won seven consecutive races since 2014, when he won 10 straight en route to his second MotoGP title. His most recent championship triumph came in 2019, but another looks a near formality.
The last time the leader did not win was when he finished third at the British Grand Prix on 25 May.
