PM: ‘We must stop importing variants from abroad’

Boris Johnson says he wants a “balanced approach” to foreign travel, whereby new Covid variants are stopped from entering the UK but travel advice is “simple”.

Ahead of the government’s next travel update, the prime minister was responding to speculation about a new amber watchlist of countries that could move on to the red list.
