After last year’s festival went virtual due to the pandemic, this year’s New York Film Festival brought in-person viewing back to excited fans. And a new documentary by director Todd Haynes explores the legacy of the Velvet Underground, a groundbreaking 1960’s rock and roll band that Haynes says was so ahead of it time “It still took decades for people to catch up to what they were doing.”
