Along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon, since 7 October the Israel Defence Forces have also been engaged in continuous fighting against the Lebanon-based Islamist armed group and political party Hezbollah.
The group are seen as terrorists by governments including the UK, and have long been opposed to Israel’s presence in disputed lands in the south of the country – resulting not in a border, but a so-called ‘blue line’ drawn by the UN, dividing the two nations.
