Great Britain won four medals on the first day of the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Romania.
Ben Proud, Matt Richards, Alex Cohoon and Lewis Burras took gold in the 4x50m freestyle relay, breaking the British record by more than half a second.
Abbie Wood also won gold in the 400m individual medley, with team-mate Freya Colbert taking silver.
Anna Hopkin, Freya Anderson, Lucy Hope and Medi Harris claimed bronze in the 4x50m freestyle relay.
It leaves Great Britain top of the medals table, with Ireland second with one gold and one bronze.
In the men’s 4x50m freestyle relay, Burras swam the final leg and brought home the national record of one minute 22.52 seconds.
“Growing in the sport, when I was 11 or 12, all I wanted to do was make a national time. So 12-13 years later, hearing your national anthem being played, for a performance you have been part of, it’s a moment to remember,” said Burras.
“I don’t know if I’ll get that moment again, so I really wanted to savour that one.”
Richards, who is a double world champion, added: “It was a great job from the boys tonight. To see four British lads all go sub 21 is something we’ve never seen and it shows the depth we’ve got.”
Wood, who claimed five medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, said: “That’s my first senior international individual title, so I can’t be mad at that at all!”
The Championships run until 10 December.
