Ben Whittaker will fight fellow Briton Liam Cameron in a rematch on 20 April at the BP Pulse Live in Birmingham.

The light-heavyweight rivals’ first fight ended in bizarre circumstances last October when both men fell over the ropes and Whittaker was unable to continue because of an injury.

The bout was declared a draw and neither man has fought since, with Whittaker nursing a back and ankle injury.

“This is an opportunity for me to give the fans a decisive result,” Whittaker said.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that this time, there will be no room for controversy. This time, we will finish it on my terms.”

Cameron, 34, was a massive underdog against the unbeaten Whittaker and has been campaigning for a rematch ever since.

Many onlookers had Sheffield’s Cameron winning the fight comfortably before it was stopped.

“I feel like I was winning the last fight before he tried pretending to be a WWE star and pulled me over the top rope,” Cameron said.

“I really believe I would have stopped him, but that’s in the past now.”

Whittaker, 27, had an unblemished record before the draw against Cameron.

The Olympian had cruised through his first seven fights as a professional and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the UK.

Cameron battled depression and alcohol issues while serving a four-year ban from boxing because of an anti-doping violation in 2019.

On the undercard in Birmingham, Frazer Clarke returns to action after the first defeat of his career, facing Ebenezer Tetteh.

Lee Cutler faces Sam Eggington in a super-welterweight fight and middleweight Tyler Denny returns from a loss to Hamzah Sheeraz to take on Elvis Ahorgah.
