Duncan Scott broke the British record by two and a half seconds as he claimed gold in the 400m freestyle at the short course World Cup event in Singapore.
The Scot swam in three minutes 34.46 seconds to break the previous record set by James Guy in 2014 and move up to second in the all-time list.
The 27-year-old took gold ahead of American Kieran Smith and Pan Zhanle of China.
“The 400m free is still an event I’m learning,” Scott said. “And I don’t really have any fear about what’s going to happen. And, yeah, I’m really happy with that.”
Scott will also race in the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley in Singapore, the third and final meet of this year’s World Cup.
France’s Leon Marchand became just the second man, after Caeleb Dressel, to break 50 seconds in the 100m individual medley.
Marchand, who four gold medals at the Olympics in Paris during the summer, swam 49.92 to move up to second on the all-time list.
American Kate Douglass broke her own world record set just last week in the 200m breaststroke.
Douglass swam 2:12.72, one and a half seconds quicker than the record she set at the World Cup meet in South Korea.
