An emotional Carl Frampton announces his retirement in the ring after being defeated by Jamel Herring in the sixth round of their WBO super-featherweight contest in Dubai.

The Belfast fighter, 34, was aiming to become Ireland’s first-ever three-weight world champion.

“I said before I would retire if I lost this fight and that’s exactly what I’m going to do,” said Frampton.
