NBA: Golden State Warriors beat Philadelphia 76ers as Stephen Curry scores 37 points

Stephen Curry scored 37 points to help the Golden State Warriors to a 119-107 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

It was the sixth straight game in which Curry, 35, scored at least 25 points, and third in a row in which he made six or more three-pointers.

Defeat was the fourth in a row for the 76ers, who lost Joel Embiid, last season’s Most Valuable Player in the NBA, to a knee injury.

He will have a scan after limping off in the fourth quarter in California.

Seven-time NBA champions Golden State, whose assistant coach Dejan Milojevic died at the age of 46 this month, are 12th in the Western Conference with a 20-24 record.

“It’s been an emotional ride for the whole team this whole year,” Curry said.

“We have talked about the self-inflicted wounds – we lost games we should have won – [and] have had some things off the court in our family, dealing with that.

“There’s always a sense of desperation for us. The vibes are as positive as they can be.”

Embiid, who missed the 76ers’ past two games with knee and Achilles soreness, left the court at Chase Center after Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga fell on his left knee as they contested a loose ball.

The 76ers are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-17 record.

The Boston Celtics let slip a 20-point lead before recovering to beat the Indiana Pacers129-124 in Boston.

The Los Angeles Lakers, without the injured Anthony Davis, suffered a second defeat in two days as they lost 138-122 at the Atlanta Hawks to leave them ninth in the Western Conference.

“We can, on any given night, beat any team in the NBA, and then on any given night we can get our ass kicked by any team in the NBA,” said Lakers forward LeBron James.

The New York Knicks extended their winning streak to eight games with a 118-103 victory over the Utah Jazz at Madison Square Garden, while the Toronto Raptors came back from a 16-point first-half deficit to triumph 118-107 at the Chicago Bulls.
