Xander Schauffele holds a two-shot lead going into the final round of the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club.
The American Olympic gold medallist bogeyed his final two holes which keeps Spaniard Rafael Cabrera within touching distance on five under par.
Three-time major winner Jordan Spieth shot a 66 to move four under par alongside Englishman Jordan Smith and American Ryan Palmer.
But overnight leader Cameron Tringale suffered a disappointing day.
Tringale, who equalled the course record 61 on day one, went from holding a three-shot lead to four behind Schauffele.
However, he remains in contention, as does US Open champion Matthew Fitzpatrick after his round of 70 also left him three under.
Schauffele, who is seeking back-to-back wins after victory in the Travelers Championship a fortnight ago, covered his first 16 holes in six under, only to bogey the 17th and 18th.
“Those finishing holes are pretty difficult but overall I’m very happy,” he said. “I stuck to what I wanted to do throughout most of the day.
“It would mean a lot to win here, it would show my game will travel and that would be something to me and my team would be very proud of.”
Russell Knox is the best placed Scot after a round of 69 moved him to two over par and a share of 35th place.
