Gloucester centre Seb Atkinson has signed a new contract to stay with the Premiership club.

Atkinson has made 52 appearances for the Cherry and Whites since moving from Worcester Warriors in November 2022.

The 22-year-old has been Gloucester’s first-choice number 12 this campaign, playing every minute of nine out of 10 Premiership games he has started.

“George [Skivington, director of rugby] and the coaches have shown plenty of times how much they trust in and back the young players, and that’s given me so much confidence in my game,” Atkinson said.

Skivington said that Atkinson has “lots of developing still to go”.

“There’s no doubt Seb has the potential to push for higher honours,” he added.

Atkinson is the sixth Gloucester player to renew his contract ahead of next season, along with hooker Seb Blake, locks Arthur Clark and Freddie Thomas, fly-half Charlie Atkinson and scrum-half Caolan Englefield.

“He’s one of those guys that really digs in with his detail, puts it out on the pitch week-in, week out,” Gloucester assistant forwards coach Trevor Woodman told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

“When Worcester went under we were fortunate to pick him up, he was very green back then but you can see he’s grown in stature year-on-year.

“He’s takes detail on, he works hard at his game. He’s always in the building trying to improve himself as a player and that’s a joy to coach.”

The length of Atkinson’s new contract is undisclosed.
