Bayern began the 2025-26 campaign by winning the German Super Cup and they sit five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

“The contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a strong vote of confidence from the club after the great job he’s done up to now, as well as a clear sign for continuity and stability at Bayern,” club president Herbert Hainer said.

“Vincent is held in high regard by the players, the club management and the fans. We’re happy about the early extension of our cooperation.”

Kompany made his name during a trophy-laden playing career with Manchester City – captaining the side and making 360 appearances and winning four Premier League titles.

The defender secured his first role in the dugout as a player-manager with boyhood club Anderlecht in 2019 and took on the position full time in 2020 after announcing his retirement from playing.

He led the Belgian club to two league titles before being appointed Burnley manager in 2022.

Kompany won the Championship in his first season at Turf Moor but the Clarets finished 19th and were relegated from the Premier League the following campaign.
