A fire has ripped through an aquatics shop that has been trading for more than 40 years.
Flames took hold at Hobby Fish, on the A5 near Potterspury, Northamptonshire, just before 04:00 BST, causing “large quantities of smoke” to drift over the road.
The blaze also spread to the shop next door, Wrigglies, which sells reptiles.
Hobby Fish said it was “devastating” but praised the fire brigade for being “absolutely fantastic”.
The shop sells tropical fish, aquarium plants and marine fish.
Its aquatic assistant Ashley Atkins said firefighters saved all the reptiles at Wrigglies, which is owned and managed by another company.
She added however that staff were waiting to see the extent of the damage to their fish rooms and they were also waiting for official reports on the cause of the fire.
Due to the smoke, residents have been asked to keep windows closed, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
The road has been closed between the A508 at Old Stratford and Potterspury.
