A 26-year-old man has been killed in a shooting in Birmingham.
Murtaza Nazit was shot on Bagshaw Road in Stechford shortly before 20:00 BST on Friday.
West Midlands Police said the scene was secured to preserve evidence and officers were speaking to witnesses and examining CCTV.
The force added a murder investigation was under way and urged anyone with information about the events leading up to the shooting to contact officers.
In a statement, Mr Nazit’s family said: “Life as we knew it will never be the same.
“As a family not only have we lost a father, husband, son, brother, we have lost our friend and protector.
“Everyone who knew him will have their own unique memory with him, and that, in these hard times, will get them through it.”
The family also called for any “videos circulating on social media to be taken down” adding: “We do not wish to see this distressing footage.”
Det Ch Insp Scott Griffiths added: “We are working around the clock to understand exactly what happened and find those responsible.”
